Any person under the spell of evil-eye may fall sick or become unhappy and may loose whatever he or she had gained or achieved. In Hindu we say ‘nazar lagna’.
It is possible that the person with an evil-eye is not doing so intentionally but feels a little jealous or envious due to which negative rays are passed on. On the other hand, some people with bad intention do so deliberately by sending occult energy with malicious intention to cause harm.
There are certain remedial ways to reduce the evil effects of evil eye. Such methods to counter the effects of evil-eye are called ‘nazar utaarna’

- Take seven whole red chillies and after adding some salt rotate the chilies thrice over the afflicted child’s head and put it on the burning fire. This is a very fast cure for evil-eye.
- If any stranger or a person with bad intention praises your child then immediately spit on the child and ask that person to touch him or her.
- Take seven red whole chillies and a spoon full of mustard seeds. Rotate it seven times in anti-clockwise direction over the child’s head and throw it on fire.
- A useful preventive cure from evil-eye is by wearing a silver chain around your neck with emerald set on it. Wear this chain around your neck in such a way that the gemstone touches your skin and is visible to the onlooker.
- Vaastu says those places which are full of spidernets will catch the evil’s eyes. Never let spidernets grow into your house.
- Clutter in the house is a big cause to attract evil’s eye. De-clutter your house immediately if you feel that something is wrong somewhere.
- The northeast corner of the house is the most sensitive and if this corner has some defects then it could attract evil-eye.
- A black tourmaline rock in the centre of your house will ward off the effects of evil-eye. Black tourmaline has magical powers to absorb the negative radiations of the environment.
